Writer, blogger, “man about town,” brand consultant, P.R. man, Ivyist. These are all titles that have been given to Jason Jules. He’s starred in many a fashion shoot and even done the odd runway appearance (Paul Smith‘s Spring/Summer 2012 show was the last one he did). His personal style ensures that he’s all over Tumblr, and Complex recently featured him as one of the most stylish men in media, calling his style a “living, breathing jazz song.” There’s even a three page thread about him on the Film Noir Buff, where they have an argument about whether an unbuttoned button down shirt is an affectation or not. But despite all this, it’s still hard to find out exactly what he does..

 

Beginning his PR career with the legendary Lynne Franks, but on realising he wasn't keen on the fashion world Jason turned his attention to organising club nights. He became a well known club promoter, featuring in “The Face’s” 100th issue in their “host of hosts” shoot alongside the likes of Jazzie B, Gaz Mayall and Norman Jay. But as the scene changed and house music took over Jason happily joined ranks with a new PR agency, The Watchman, merging the worlds of music and fashion. Brands and artists ranged from Levi's and Wrangler, Soul II Soul, Brand New Heavies, Des'ree, Gilles Peterson and Jamiroquai. Moving into festivals creating Edge and Garmsville, music and fashion crossed paths again with edgy, anti-stylised short films for Art Comes First, Ally Capellino and Dickies. 

 

Face of Drake's, fashion guru, brand consultant, club promoter, festival creator and film producer, the lifeblood running through Jason is the story, the record - subverting the standard to reveal the new. 2018 Jason debut's his first feature-length documentary, A Modernist, an hour-long feature on the legendary London clothier John Simons, sometimes referred to as the patron saint of English Ivy or the Godfather, includes appearances from John Simons, Paul Simons, Paul Weller, Kevin Rowland, Suggs, John Hegarty and Robert Elms.
